The word Reiki is made from two Japanese words, Rei which means "Universal Life" and Ki which is "Energy". The Reiki method of healing utilizes this universal energy to create positive change. Reiki energy is channeled from the heart chakra of the practitioner and relayed to another person for physical healing and emotional cleansing.
Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient to activate the natural healing processes of the patients body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
A Reiki session is a wonderfully relaxing experience and treats the entire person, body, mind and spirit. Each experience is unique but the overall feeling is one of deep tranquility.
Training at Yama Yoga
Usui Reiki is traditionally taught at three levels.
-Level I Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master. Those that wish to learn receive the attunements of Reiki, learn proper hand positions, Reiki principles, and the history of Reiki. At the completion of Level I training the student becomes a Reiki Practitioner.
-Level II generally includes three Reiki symbols. Their use and meaning are learned and the student receives another attunement.
-Level III is the Master Level of Reiki. The Master Symbol, it's meaning, and application are taught in order to complete the other three symbols taught at Level II. Masters will learn how to initiate others into Reiki using the attunement process.
Once you have been attuned to Reiki energy, you can begin to treat yourself and treat others. Reiki is not a substitute for traditional medical practice, but can be exceptionally useful as complimentary therapy.
